Healesville Sanctuary

Tawny Frog Mouth One of the first animals we saw was a Tawny Frogmouth, Liam (the host) said he would take the Tawny Frogmouth out of it’s aviary but he later came out empty handed and said that the Tawny Frogmouth didn’t want to come out but later on a different lady took the Tawny Frogmouth out and we got a close up look at the Frogmouth.

Spirits of The Sky Show My favourite part of the excursion was the bird show. We learnt about many birds and watched them fly over our heads and do amazing tricks. My favourite trick was the one where there was a talking bird. And I thought it was cool that the one of the birds were able to break open an emu egg with a rock.

Tassie/Tasmanian Devils When we went to the tasmanian devil enclosure we learnt that all the tasmanian devils were female and the two younger ones names were piper and annie. We also found out that tasmanian devils are endangered because of a facial tumor cancer and because of that they have been breeding and setting free tasmanian devils on an island where there is tasmanian devils hoping that they would not get the cancer.

Lizards We saw a bearded dragon, blue tongue lizards and a goanna. I got to touch the bearded dragon and it’s spikes were actually quite soft and not at all spikey, so the spikes are really only for show. We also saw a snake that wasn’t dangerous so the keeper took it out and some people touched it but I really don’t like snakes so I stayed away from the snake, the snake was a type of Boa Constrictor.
