DINOSAURS

WHAT ARE DINOSAURS? Dinosaurs lived millions of years ago. Fact about dinosaurs. Dinosaurs lived millions of years ago. There were no people on earth only dinosaurs Suddenly they ALL died so they became EXTINCT

How were they born? Dinosaurs hatched out of eggs like a bird or a crocodile.

What were they like? Some dinosaurs were huge, colossal, massive, gigantic. Can you think of any other adjectives to describe them?

What were they like? Some dinosaurs were smaller.

How did they move? QUICK SLOW Some dinosaurs were fast. Some dinosaurs were slow and clumsy.

HOW DID THEY MOVE? Some could fly.

What did dinosaurs eat? Herbivores Carnivores Some dinosaurs only ate plants and leaves. They were called ‘herbivores’. Some dinosaurs only ate meat or other animals. They were called ‘carnivores’.

What are you? A herbivore or Or do you eat both plants and meat? carnivore? Or do you eat both plants and meat? If you eat plants and meat you are called an OMNIVORE and some dinosaurs were also omnivores.

What did dinosaurs look like? Some dinosaurs had horns like a Triceratops. Why do you think they had horns?

Armoured plates Some dinosaurs had armoured plates like a Stegosaurus. How do you think they used their armoured plates?

Skin Dinosaurs had thick, bumpy, scaly skin too. We think it may have looked like this. What other animal’s skin does it look like? Why do you think they had skin like this?

How do we know about dinosaurs? Dinosaur detectives called Palaeontologists have found dinosaurs bone prints. These are called ‘fossils’. The bones have printed into the ground and left a mark. Palaeontologists put the fossils back together like a jigsaw to make a dinosaur.

What happened to dinosaurs? We are not completely sure what happened but people think that a large piece of rock called an asteroid hit earth. This caused lots of volcanoes and fire. This killed all the dinosaurs and so they became EXTINCT.

What facts can you remember? Can you turn and talk to your partner Can you tell your partner 3 things about dinosaurs? What new words did you learn today? What do they mean?
