The Picture Game language and reality

How to play: 1 – You will be in a group of 5-6 people 2 – Each person will have a stack of blank papers – the same number as people in the group 3 – To begin each person will write a sentence describing something (can be anything): Example: A cat is sleeping in the sun.

Directions 2: 4 – The stack of paper is now passed to the person on your left and you receive the stack of paper from the person on your right. 5 – Read the sentence on the stack of paper you received, and move the top paper to the bottom of the stack 6 – On the new top paper, draw a picture that shows what the sentence said-

(read the sentence and move the paper to the bottom of the stack) Directions – 3: The paper you get: A cat is sleeping in the sun. (read the sentence and move the paper to the bottom of the stack) The picture you draw: Do not write words on the paper

Directions - 4 7 – After drawing your picture: pass the stack of paper to your left- with your picture on top 8 – You will get a stack of paper with a picture on top from the person on your right 9 – Look at the picture and move it to the bottom of the stack then write a sentence describing what you saw on the picture

Directions 5 A spaceship flies through the sky. The paper you get: (look at the picture and move the paper to the bottom of the stack) The sentence you write: A spaceship flies through the sky. Do not look back at other papers in the stack-

Directions 6 Communication is challenging! 10 – keep passing the stacks around the circle until you get your 1st sentence back 11 – Now, go around the circle and each person will show their stack to the group and see how the message changed from the drawing and writing- Communication is challenging!
