Fall Semester Final Essay

Directions How do revolutions transform societies? The essay will comprise of half of your final. Remember the final is 20% of your grade. We will be typing and submitting it on Friday during class. In your essay you will be answering the following E.Q.: How do revolutions transform societies? Today we will be focusing simply on your THESIS. For your thesis it should: restate the question answer the question provide 3 reasons why

Bucketing Directions With your group take 6 of the following themes and place them into a bucket and then give that bucket a name.

Bucketing Directions With your group take 6 of the following themes and place them into a bucket and then give that bucket a name. Now using your three buckets, use an adjective to describe what the three bucket names have in common (i.e. they all created a more stable society) Now you have your answer the E.Q. & your three reasons (category names) EX: Revolutions transformed societies by impacting large groups of people in a negative way through violent overthrows of government, poor working conditions and overcrowded cities created by industrialization.

Evidence Remember evidence is a fact, stat or quote that supports your thesis. Highlight evidence used in previous essays that you could use in your new essay. If you don’t have an essay use the use your notes to look for evidence. If you only have a few or no notes then use the textbook. If you get stuck ask your group members for advice. You will need two pieces of evidence for each reason (6 total).

Reasoning Remember, reasoning explains the importance of the evidence and what you are trying to prove. Reasoning should make up a majority of your paragraph. Reasoning DOES NOT restate the evidence. Use these phrases to help start your reasoning: This highlights the fact that… This evidence shows… By showing ___________, proves that… This demonstrates _________ because…
