Physical Education Focus: The focus of Physical Education emphasizes fitness through the participation in lifelong physical activity. Students learn team strategies, good sportsmanship, and engage in competitive play. Activities : Physical activities include but not limited to soccer, football, basketball, volleyball, badminton, pickle ball, ping pong, hockey, track, softball, non-traditional games, and fitness training. The students are required to participate in physical activities with the goal of improving health.

Art Projects- mandala, gridded self-portrait, still life, zentangle rectangle, abstract circle, 3-D letter, additive clay sculpture, pop art poster, creative color wheel and painted ceiling tiles. Focus- to expose students to different kinds of medium, culture and artists/art history while further developing their skills.

Chorus Primary focus- Providing opportunities to foster well rounded young adults. This ensemble learns and performs a variety of music from different time periods and cultures. Fall Music Concert: Nov.13, 2017

Students will be allowed one task day a week. Plus Many students show a keen desire to musically excel above the course of daily activities. To this end, we offer these extracurricular opportunities for extended growth in musicianship. Jazz Band, ILMEA Auditions and Honor Band, NCJC Conference, Solo and Ensemble Focus: Students will develop a deeper understanding of our global society and how to achieve harmony with themselves and other, while fostering an appreciation of music that will last throughout their lives.

Spanish 1 & German 1 Focus: Develop reading, writing, listening, and speaking abilities in target language Identical structure and expectations as Beginner/Introductory Level 1 courses at CHS Hundreds of new vocabulary words Basic grammar Culture of Spanish- or German-speaking countries. Topics include basic conversation, numbers, alphabet, dates & times, school & home life, food & restaurant, sports & hobbies.

Computer Technology Projects: Focus: I know what you are thinking: Another computer class?! However, this course is unique, in that it develops the skills you need for the IC3 Living Online Certification Exam. Certification shows potential employers that you have entry level computer and Internet abilities. In addition, you make yourself marketable and potential employers are willing to pay more money for your services! And who wouldn’t want to make more money?! Projects: Word, Excel, PowerPoint Based: Students will learn about and implement all the bells and whistles.

CTE Capstone Projects: Focus: This content in the course will cover all CTE areas: Engineering, Family Consumer Science, Agriculture Science, Health Occupations, and Business. Students will use drafting software, Interior Design techniques. They will perform experiments related to alternative forms of energy and careers in the health field. Finally, what course would be complete without a splash of best practice Business techniques. Projects: Drafting, Ag Science Wind Energy Experiments, Health Occs/FACS Research, Business Practice
