Large Image slide CH. 2 Lesson 2 How to convert % to a fraction Step 1 - Change percent to a fraction over 100… EX. 75% = 75/100 Step 2 – Simplify. How to convert Fractions into % Step 1 - Try to convert fraction into a fraction over 100 Ex. 6/8 = ¾ = 75/100 CH. 2 Lesson 2 Large Image slide © Copyright Showeet.com – Free PowerPoint Templates

Large Image slide CH. 2 Lesson 3 How to write decimals as % METHOD 1 Step 1 - Write decimal as a fraction over 100 (also known as how many hundredths you have) Ex. 0.36 = 36 hundredths = 36/100 METHOD 2 Step 1 - Move the decimal point 2 places to the right and add a % sign. Ex. 0.36 becomes 36% How to write % as decimals METHOD 1 Step 1 - Change percent to a fraction over 100… EX. 75% = 75/100 Step 2 – Write it out. Ex. 75/100 is 75 hundredths = 0.75 METHOD 2 Step 1 – Put a decimal at the end of the percent if there isn’t one and move it the decimal 2 places to the left and remove %. How to write % that are LESS than 1% as decimals and fractions CH. 2 Lesson 4 Large Image slide How to write Mixed Numbers and Decimals as a % Step 1 – Convert Mixed Number (Example: 1 ¼ ) into an improper Fraction (Example: 5/4 note: numerator is bigger than the denominator, that makes it IMPROPER) Ex. 1 ¼ → 5/4 Step 2 – Convert improper fraction into a fraction over 100 or divide, then find %. Ex. 5/4 = ?/100 → 125/100 → 125% How to write % that are LESS than 1% as decimals and fractions Step 1 – Put a 0 to the left of the percent. Ex. 0.4% → 00.4% Step 2 – Move the decimal 2 places to the left and remove % sign. Ex. 00.4% → 0.004 as a decimal Step 3 – To change to a fraction, take decimal and write it as a fraction. Ex. 0.004 as a decimal → is 4 thousandths Which can be written as 4/1000 or 1/250 as a fraction © Copyright Showeet.com – Free PowerPoint Templates

COMPARING FRACTIONS, DECIMALS and PERCENTS. CH. 2 Lesson 5 Large Image slide COMPARING FRACTIONS, DECIMALS and PERCENTS. Step 1 – Create a Table with 2 Columns, listing each given number in each row of the 1st column. Ex. Given 1/5, 0.22 and 19% → Step 2 – Convert each number into the same type (fraction, decimal or %, whichever is easiest) and put that type of number in the 2nd column to compare all numbers. Ex. Or Or © Copyright Showeet.com – Free PowerPoint Templates 1/5 0.2 0.22 19% 0.19

Find the % of a Number with %’s greater than 100% and Less than 1% CH. 2 Lesson 7 Large Image slide Find the % of a Number with %’s greater than 100% and Less than 1% For % Greater than 100% Write the % as a fraction and multiply. Ex. 145% of 80 → 145/100 x 80/1 = 11600/100 = 1160/10 = 116/1 = 116 → 145% of 80 is 116. For % Less than 1% Convert % into a decimal and multiply. Ex. 0.25% of 40 → 0.0025 → 0.0025 x 40 = 0.1 Find the % of a Number Method 1 Step 1 – Write the % as a fraction and multiply. Ex. 15% of 200 → 15/100 x 200/1 = 4000/100 4000/100 = 400/10 = 40/1 = 40 → 15% of 200 is 40. Method 2 Step 1 – Write the % as a decimal and multiply. Ex. 15% of 200 → 0.15 x 200 = 40 Note: When multiplying decimals, you can move the decimal over until your decimal is a whole number. If you do that, you have to move the decimal for your other factor. Can see me. © Copyright Showeet.com – Free PowerPoint Templates
