In the DO NOW section of your folder answer the following question in at least three complete sentences after watching the video: According to the movie Iron Jawed Angels why did so many people oppose womens suffrage?

DN39: NAOWS 4/17/17 In the DO NOW section of your folder answer the following questions in complete sentences and embed the question in your answer. Why does the National Association Opposed to Womens Suffrage believe that women should not have the right to vote? How does this argument compare to those used in Document A?

DN40: John A. Moon 4/18/17 In the DO NOW section of your folder answer the following questions in complete sentences and embed the question in your answer. What claim does John A. Moon make about why women should not have the right to vote? Why would this claim be dismissed in Congress today?

Write your claim Why did people, including women, oppose women’s suffrage? 1st period Anti-suffragists opposed women’s suffrage because they believed that women had no place in politics. 3rd period Anti-suffragists opposed women’s suffrage because they believed that women belong in the home.

First chunk – 1st Period Anti-suffragists opposed women’s suffrage because they believed women had no place in politics. In paragraph two of The Ladies’ Battle (modified) Molly Elliot Seawell states that “And if all the dangers and difficulties of executing the law lay upon men, what right have women to make the law?”

First Chunk – 3rd period Anti-suffragists opposed women’s suffrage because they believed that women belong in the home. In paragraph two of The Ladies Battle (modified) Molly Elliot Seawell claims that “The entire execution of the law would be in the hands of men, backed up by irresponsible voters (women) who could not lift a finger to catch or punish a criminal.” From the evidence it can be inferred that anti-suffragists believe that women should not be able to vote and should stay at home because at this time women could not be police officers and could not punish criminals.
