Mrs Graham and the Early Years Team Fox Class News 5.10.18 What a busy week we have had in our Reception Class! We begun by exploring our sense of touch – but through our feet! It was great fun stepping into different textures, I think the slime was the most fun!! Some great adjectives used to describe how each texture felt. On Thursday we enjoyed National Poetry Day and Mr Vale-Smith came into Fox Class Reception and Nursery in the morning to share some nursery rhymes with us. In the afternoon the Reception children performed a poem about a caterpillar, in front of the whole school using amazing actions! They were fantastic – (I think we were the best!!!) On Friday afternoon we walked to the church for our Harvest Festival, the children managed the walk really well and performed ‘Big Red Combine Harvester’ beautifully. Next week we are exploring our ‘sense of hearing’ by going on a listening walk, playing circle time games using musical instruments and listening to instructions to find our way out of the maze!. We will be reading ‘What the Ladybird Heard’. In the Nursery this week the children have been finding sticks in our woodland walk and using them for a wide range of things, decorating them, mark-making with them, using them as birthday cakes candles and comparing them! The children listened to the story of Stickman and have shared different books including Stanley’s Stick. Next week to follow the children’s interests, we will be exploring height and length, comparing and ordering objects and looking at our own height using mathematical language. Our role-play area outside will become a Builders Yard with opportunities to compare height, length and size. Our inside role-play area will transform from a Vet’s Surgery to a hospital as the children have begun to make each other better with the bandages and stethoscopes! We look forward to welcoming all the children back on Monday, Mrs Graham and the Early Years Team Diary dates: Monday 8th October 6pm Reception Phonics Meeting Thursday 18th October School Disco Friday 19th October break up for half term Monday 29th October Non Pupil Day Tuesday 30th October Children return to school
