Welcome to 8th grade ELAR Bell Ringer On a sheet of paper, write what you infer about me from my selfie/photos.

All About Me My name is Mrs. Ritz I have been married to Brian Ritz for 17 ½ years We have 2 children: Bradley 17- senior at CHS; Jaycee 15- Sophomore at CHS I enjoy watching my son participate in technical theatre for the high school plays and watching my daughter participate in colorguard with the band When I am not watching my kids in their activities, I enjoy reading ;), watching tv, or sleeping! I love naps!! I love teaching and for the next 10 months you will be my kids.

Classroom Procedures Before entering the classroom, you will line-up along the wall and wait for me to greet you with a smile and handshake. EVERYDAY :) When you enter the classroom, you will enter quietly and calmly, put your belongings under your desks, and start on the bellwork that is on the board. When I need your attention, I will raise my hand to quiet the class. You will raise your hand as well, stop talking, and look me in the eyes. When you are turning in assignments, you will place them in the appropriate colored tray in the back of the room. You will be given restroom passes at the beginning of each 6 weeks. You will have 4 per six weeks. Try to take care of your needs during the passing period.

Classroom Procedures I use CHAMPS in my classroom, you will abide/do what is marked. When you are absent, the work will be in the hanging folders in the back of the room. You are responsible for getting your absent work, not me. If you need your pencil sharpened, raise your hand and I will sharpen your pencil. Always raise your hand and never blurt out, especially if someone else is talking. That it RUDE! The agenda will be written on the board for both you and me to know what we will be doing and when assignments will be due. It will be helpful for you to write the agenda somewhere you can look back at for reference. The “We will/I will” statements will be on the board along with the TEKS explaining what will be going on in class that day.

Classroom Rules and Consequences Follow directions quickly, the first time they are given Treat each other the way you want to be treated Keep your hands, feet and objects to yourselves Always say, “Please and Thank You” to one another. Consequences for your actions: 1st time warning 2nd time demerit 3rd time call home and lunch detention with me 4th time office referral

Classroom expectations All of you are wonderful, brilliant students. You can achieve anything you put your mind to. You need to only believe in yourself as much as I believe in you. I know that greatness is going to happen this year, because you are going to make it happen. Yes, you! As Walt Disney once said, “ All our dreams can come true--- if we have the courage to pursue them”.
