What the Apostles say about their wives

“Because of her, I know all the blessings that can come to a husband, father, and grandfather.” Russell M. Nelson & Dantzel White August 31, 1945, Salt Lake Temple, 10 children

“She speaks to people’s hearts” in a way that can’t come any other way than through Wendy Watson Nelson. She is so dynamic, so positive, so bright and brilliant.” Russell M. Nelson & Wendy Watson Married in 2006

“She just brought out the best in me “She just brought out the best in me. . . . June has kept me from getting pompous and self-important.” Dallin H. Oaks & June Dixon June 24, 1952, Salt Lake Temple, 6 children

"The Lord miraculously brought us together "The Lord miraculously brought us together....  I was anxious and praying for the privilege of being led to someone who would come into an existing family and be a part of that family."   "I married up.  That's the happy aspiration of every man - to find a woman who will make him better than he is capable of being on his own." Dallin H. Oaks & Kristin McMain Oaks

“[She is] a person who has always made me want to be the very best that I can be.” Henry B. Eyring & Kathleen Johnson July 27, 1962, Logan Temple, 6 children

“I knew from the beginning that I wanted to marry her, but she didn’t share the same feelings. It was a little hard convincing her. …Getting her to agree to marry me was the greatest sales job I ever did.” M. Russell Ballard & Barbara Bowen August 28, 1951, Salt Lake Temple, 7 children

“My wife has the purest faith and deepest spirituality I know “My wife has the purest faith and deepest spirituality I know. … Paraphrasing what Mark Twain’s Adam said of his Eve, I say of her, Wherever she was, there was paradise.” Jeffrey R. Holland & Patricia Terry June 7, 1963, St. George Temple, 3 children

“My wife, Susan, is a virtuous woman and a righteous mother “My wife, Susan, is a virtuous woman and a righteous mother. You will quickly see that purity and goodness are evident in her countenance. I love her and appreciate her more than words can express.” David A. Bednar & Susan Kae Robinson March 20, 1975, Salt Lake Temple, 3 children

“I [am] married to the woman I [have] loved ever since I first saw her “I [am] married to the woman I [have] loved ever since I first saw her.” “She is the sunshine of my life.” Dieter F. Uchtdorf & Harriet Reich December 14, 1962, Bern Switzerland Temple, 2 children

“It would be hard to find anybody in the whole world who is as good and righteous and bright as she is. . . . Marrying her was the best decision I have ever made.” Quentin L. Cook & Mary Gaddie November 30, 1962, Logan Temple, 3 children

"Those who know my Kathy have observed that I married much above myself, a conclusion I heartily agree with." D. Todd Christofferson & Katherine Jacob May 29, 1968, Salt Lake Temple, 5 children

“[God] allowed me to marry one of His angels here on earth “[God] allowed me to marry one of His angels here on earth. … I would be nothing without her. For much of my life, I have been trying to become what she thought I already was.” Neil L. Andersen & Kathy Sue Williams March 20, 1975, Salt Lake Temple, 4 children

“My wife has taken me like potter’s clay and molded me into something that really matters. She knows when to draw me back, slow me down, and get it right. In large measure it’s her spiritual influence that has led to not only this beautiful and special calling but to everything that I’ve done spiritually.”w Elder and Sister Rasband September 4, 1973, in the Salt Lake Temple.

During an Old Testament class at the institute of religion in Logan, he met Lesa Jean Higley, who had moved from California to Idaho and was now a student at Utah State. “The teacher asked Lesa to role-play as Eve and for me to play the role of Satan to tempt her. As a result, it took a while for me to convince her to go out with me.” They dated for just over a year and then married. He often quotes Doctrine and Covenants 81:5, which says, “Wherefore, be faithful; stand in the office which I have appointed unto you; succor the weak, lift up the hands which hang down, and strengthen the feeble knees” as a tribute of what Lesa has done for their family over the years. Elder and Sister Stephenson April 1979 in the Idaho Falls Idaho Temple.

“Aside from the decision to be active in the Church, marrying Ruth has been the most amazing thing in my life.”  Elder and Sister Renlund June 16, 1977 in the SLC Temple
