FIRE BEHAVIOR

Fire Triangle The fire triangle: Oxygen Heat Fuel Without these three things you can not have the chemical reaction.

FLASHOVER The temperature point at which the heat in an area or region is high enough to ignite all flammable material simultaneously.

FLASHOVER Temperatures soar to 1000 degrees Fahrenheit within a matter of seconds. Regardless of protective clothing, a firefighter caught in a flashover is unlikely to survive without serious injury.

FLASHOVER SIGNS OF A FLASHOVER Dense black smoke with tightly packed curls that pushes out of a window or doorway. Smoke as low as the door knob in a room. Rollover of flames on the ceiling.

FLASHOVER

BACKDRAFT A backdraft is an explosive event caused by a fire, resulting from rapid re-introduction of oxygen to combustion in an oxygen-depleted environment

BACKDRAFT

BACKDRAFT

BACKDRAFT Signs of a backdraft: black smoke becoming dense grey and yellow. Little or no visible flame. Smoke stained windows. Pressurized smoke exiting small openings. A simulated breathing appearance.
