HOW TO SUCCEED AT AN INTERVIEW

CLOTHING DRESS APPROPRIATELY DRESS RESPECTFULLY (conservative-no skin) PLAIN CLOTHING…DARK, SOLID COLOUR DRESS PANTS/DARK JEANS DRESS SHOES/POLISH YOUR RUNNERS NO HATS REMOVE PIERCINGS AND COVER TATOOS

BODY LANGUAGE SHAKE HANDS, (smile, say greeting) EYE CONTACT SIT STILL POSTURE (sit up, away from the back of the chair) NO GUM NO FOOD/DRINKS

LANGUAGE/TONE POSITIVE APPROPRIATE (no slang, no swearing) CLEAR (slow down, speak up, be prepared) PROFESSIONAL (kids= children, guys = people) POLITE (Please, Thank you, yes, no)

GOALS Do you have goals? They mean long term if they are asking about career goals. If you are not yet sure, tell them so. Tell them your interest/subject areas. Don’t say you have no goals! Commitment to the business (long term)

Answering the commonly asked questions: Use your notes. Practice with someone at home (or call a friend). Stop after every question and ask for feedback. What did you do well? What could you add? Did you follow the steps? The person helping you should have the Commonly asked interview questions with the hints in front of them. (Available on the weebly)
