Presentation transcript:

Helping kids with cerebral palsy to be more physically active through doing sports and leisure Kids with cerebral palsy participate less often in sports and physical activities than their peers without cerebral palsy. We’ve designed a different type of program delivered by a physio, occupational therapist or exercise physiologist that aims to get kids with cerebral palsy to do sports and physical activities that they think are meaningful. The new program respects barriers (things that get in the way) to your child’s participation, but also their strengths and individuality. The program is designed to suit your family circumstances and unique situation. Do you have a child with cerebral palsy who is 8 to 12 years old? Do you live near one of the trial sites in QLD, NSW or WA? Call or email us to find out if your child can participate in this research study! What are the details? 1 hour per week face-to-face therapy for 12 weeks Delivered by a PT, OT or EP Partnering with you and your child to achieve goals about participating in sports and physical activities Guiding you to create solutions to problems you face when trying to help your child be more physically active Linking you up with the tools and information you need Delivered in your home and places where sports happen in your local community If you would like more information about this study please contact us: QUEENSLAND and general enquiries Dr Leanne Sakzewski QCPRRC, The University of Queensland l.sakzewski1@uq.edu.au 07 3069 7345 NEW SOUTH WALES Professor Iona Novak Cerebral Palsy Alliance inovak@cerebralpalsy.org.au WESTERN AUSTRALIA Professor Catherine Elliott Princess Margaret Hospital catherine.elliott@health.wa.gov.au Participate-cp Flyer v1.0 16/11/2017
