Adult Treatment Courts Serve: High needs/high risk individuals: those who are likely to continue to engage in criminal behavior without an intervention. Criteria: Substance abuse addiction Co-occurring disorders Crimes related to substance abuse A potential sentence long enough to justify a 16-18 month program
Treatment Courts Provide: Intensive substance abuse treatment Wrap around case management Mental health treatment Drug testing - twice a week Regular status hearings before a judge Referrals for: housing and housing supports health services job skills training & employment educational services other needed supports
Treatment Court Structure Program Phases Orientation Phase: ~30 days Clinical & legal eligibility Orientation for referred individual Change of plea Plea agreement Participant contract signed
Phase 1: Stabilization: Detoxification Safe and sober housing Residential treatment Intensive outpatient treatment Bi-weekly court sessions Drug testing / 60 days
Phases 2 & 3: Change & Recovery As progress is made, there are additional requirements: Treatment groups Employment Education Aftercare plan Monthly court sessions Drug testing / 90 days.
