Recap on Comments Received The good things; • They meet current/relevant Legislation • They are recognised and accepted by the HSE • The SHE 4 & 6 fit the job role reasonably well • The criteria within units are logically sequenced • Provide flexibility with separate units covering H, S & E • Good standard of assessment and quality assurance • Can be developmental although not designed for this 7 Bullet points

• No clear progression route between qualification levels The not so good; • Level 6 Accident Investigation unit is difficult to generate performance evidence for • Knowledge, across all qualifications, the volume, terminology, duplication • Difficult to assess with having a specific list of improvements to cover • No clear progression route between qualification levels • Qualifications are biased towards quarry activities • Not all units are relevant/important to the roles of those undertaking them 6 Bullet points

How can we improve? Remain focussed on Management of H, S & E Include the management of contractors Inclusion of CPD reference or requirement in all levels Ensure wider recognition across footprint Create a generic core for the qualifications Combine Health & Safety and Environmental units Create a clear progression route between qualifications Recognise the changed position the industry is now in 8 Bullet points

Proposal for consideration Identify core Health, Safety and Environmental criteria that would be used across all qualification levels Have the Level 4 qualification (or parts of it) as a base to build upon Develop building blocks of additional knowledge and performance to create the Level 6 & 7 qualifications 3 Bullet points

Additional Criteria Core Component Level 7 Level 6 Level 6 Level 4

Meeting Outcomes Establish the process for building block model Combine Health & Safety with Environmental units where possible Emphasise requirement to include Health hazards and improvements Incorporate knowledge only units into performance units to eliminate duplication 4 Bullet points
