قرار انشاء الكرسي اتخذ مجلس جامعة الملك فهد للبترول والمعادن قرارا في جلسته رقم (3) للعام الدراسي 1423/1424هـ بتاريخ 18/11/1423هـ بإنشاء كرسي أستاذية في كلية تصاميم البيئة يهتم بتطوير المسكن الميّسر في المملكة العربية السعوديـة وقد تم قبول العرض المقدم من مجموعة آل سعيدان للعقارات لتمويل الكرسي والذي تمت تسميته " كرسي عبد الله وحمد وإبراهيم أبناء محمد بن سعيدان لتطوير المسكن الميسر في المملكة العربية السعودية" ” ولمدة ثلاث سنوات وبمبلغ مليون ريال وتم توقيع العقد في شهر مايو 2003م

أهداف الكرسي تعزيز دور الجامعة في مجال البحث العلمي. إجراء دراسات وبحوث في مجال المسكن الميسر ، مع التركيز على هذا المجال في المملكة العربية السعودية. تطوير المنهج الأكاديمي للجامعة والمساعدة في تصميم وإعداد برامج ومناهج دراسية في مجال المسكن الميسر. المساهمة في تدريس وتقديم المحاضرات لطلبة الجامعة في المجالات المتعلقة بالمسكن الميسر.

تنظيم حلقات دراسية وندوات بشكل دوري في مجال المسكن الميسر، بالتنسيق مع آل سعيدان . الإشراف على بحوث طلاب الدراسات العليا في مجال المسكن الميسر. المساهمة في إنشاء مركز بحوث متميز في مجال المسكن الميسر. الإسهام في تقديم الاستشارات للمؤسسات الخاصة والعامة المهتمة بمجال المسكن الميسر.

النشاطات خلال الفترة الماضية تصميم وطباعة ملصق إعلاني ودعوة لشغل وظيفة أستاذ المسكن الميسر باللغتين العربية والإنجليزية الإعلان في الدوريات العلمية العالمية المتخصصة في الإسكان والتخطيط الحضري والتنمية المشاركة في الندوات والمعارض ذات العلاقة بالمسكن الميسر تنظيم المسابقات في مجال المسكن الميسر الاتصال بالجهات المحلية المهتمة بمجالات الإسكان الميسر الاتصال بالمراكز العالمية المتخصصة في الإسكان الميسر بهدف الإعلان عن وظيفة شاغل الكرسي والتعاون في مجالات البحوث والدراسات وتنظيم الزيارات العلمية

Definitions of Affordable Housing on the Web: Housing, either ownership or rental, for which a household will pay no more than 30 percent of its gross annual income. www.city.ottawa.on.ca/city_services/planningzoning/region_op/annex_a.htm Housing with market price or rent that is affordable to households of low and moderate income, which are households within the lowest 60 per cent of the income distribution for the Housing Region, as determined by the Ministry of Housing. Budget 13. Budget: The period for completion of research projects should be between three to six months. The total budget should not exceed SR 20,000 . The payments for the research will be as follows: SR 1200 per month for the Principal Investigator SR 1000 per month for Co- Investigators SR 600 per month for Research Assistants A maximum of SR 500 for Secretaries A maximum of SR 1000 for stationary and other supplies No other items other than mentioned above should be included in the budget.
