Chapter 4

Cain & Abel Now Abel kept flocks, and Cain worked the soil. Live for God Now Abel kept flocks, and Cain worked the soil. The LORD looked with favor on Abel and his offering, but on Cain and his offering he did not look with favor. So Cain was very angry, and his face was downcast. (Gen 4:2-5) Life, attitute Best portions, Christ By faith Abel offered God a better sacrifice than Cain did. By faith he was commended as a righteous man, when God spoke well of his offerings. And by faith he still speaks, even though he is dead. (Heb 11:4)

Chapter 6

Fallen angels the sons of God saw that the daughters of men were beautiful, and they married any of them they chose. Then the LORD said, "My Spirit will not contend with man forever, for he is mortal; his days will be a hundred and twenty years." The Nephilim were on the earth in those days-- and also afterward-- when the sons of God went to the daughters of men and had children by them. They were the heroes of old, men of renown. (Gen 6:2-4) Also seen in Num 13:33 (the giants in Canaan) Now there was a day when the sons of God came to present themselves before the LORD, and Satan also came among them. (Job 1:6; NAS) And the angels who did not keep their positions of authority but abandoned their own home -- these he has kept in darkness, bound with everlasting chains for judgment on the great Day. (Jude 1:6)

God told Noah to build an ark. The LORD saw how great man's wickedness on the earth had become, and that every inclination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil all the time. The LORD was grieved that he had made man on the earth, and his heart was filled with pain. (Gen 6:5-6) God told Noah to build an ark. In Hebrew: means box; same word as the papyrus “basket” in which baby Moses was placed. In Greek: same word as the covenant “ark”. Allegorically, it represents Christ.

Background: It had never rained on earth. and no shrub of the field had yet appeared on the earth and no plant of the field had yet sprung up, for the LORD God had not sent rain on the earth and there was no man to work the ground, but streams came up from the earth and watered the whole surface of the ground-- (Gen 2:5-6) Being revealed by God, Noah believed in God’s word. By faith Noah, when warned about things not yet seen, in holy fear built an ark to save his family. By his faith he condemned the world and became heir of the righteousness that comes by faith. (Heb 11:7)
