Presentation transcript:

Multiculturalism in Action Brown Bag Series History's Reverberations: The Historical Roots of Baltimore's Contemporary Policing Challenges Dr. Elyshia Aseltine Department of Sociology, Anthropology, and Criminal Justice November 29, 2017 12:00pm-1:15pm CLA 3150 In April 2017, the City of Baltimore entered an agreement with the US Department of Justice (DOJ) to make significant changes to local policing policies and practices. The DOJ report identifies pervasive problems with the contemporary policing of Baltimore's Black communities; largely unexplored in the report is the long and often troublesome history of policing of Baltimore's Black residents. In this presentation, we will discuss archival data aimed at revealing this important history. This event is open to all faculty, staff, and students! Light refreshments provided   Sponsored by the Office of Inclusion and Institutional Equity For additional information please contact Dr. Danice Brown (dlbrown@towson.edu)
