Vote Alice for EEO! Who am I? My name is Alice Coombes, I’m 20 years old and I’m studying Psychology and Sociology. I am currently finishing my placement year doing psychological research at Birmingham university and will be returning for my final year in September! Why vote for me? As a sociology student, I’m passionate about all areas of equality, and want to be the voice in the union for all students at Aston! I’d also like to get the student body more interested in what they can do to make Aston the greenest it can possibly be with plenty of volunteering opportunities, raising awareness and of course lots of events! In addition, I think it would be great to collaborate with societies for events, for instance with RAG to raise money for environmental charities. I’m very friendly & approachable, and think it could be a lot of fun sharing ideas and making them happen! What experience do I have? I was a member of the E&E committee last year, and am currently on placement at University of Birmingham as a research assistant, which largely involves organising events, such as at Birmingham library, Think Tank museum and even zoo trips! In terms of involvement with the university, I am currently a peer mentor, have worked as a student rep for psychology & sociology and worked with Andrew Murray the Environment and Sustainability Assistant in first year to talk to students about recycling in student residences.
