Fraction Party Summative Assessment

Summative Assessment Using any materials that you need, answer the following questions in your Math Journal: 1. Ashton brought 2 1 5 gallons of juice to the party. He spilled 1 9 10 of it. How much does he have left? 2. Jordan has 7 8 of the balloons blown up. He’s taking a bit of a rest and will then blow up another 1 10 . What fraction of the balloons will he have blown up then? 3. Sophia was getting dressed for the party and found some ribbon to put in her hair. She began to use 11 1 9 inches of ribbon but though that was a bit too long. So, she cut off 3 2 3 inches. What fraction of the ribbon does she have left to put in her hair? Then, write a sentence about what you learned and a question you still have about your learning.

Answers to summative assessment: Ashton: 2 1 5 gallons of juice -1 9 10 gallons of juice = 3 10 gallons of juice. 2. Jordan: 7 8 of the balloons + 1 10 of the balloons = 39 40 balloons. 3. Sophia: 11 1 9 inches of ribbon - 3 2 3 inches = 7 4 9 inches of ribbon.
