2nd International Music Olympiad in Riga 2014

The 2nd International Music Olympiad took place from 30 of April to 02 of May 2014 at Jāzeps Vītols Latvian Academy of Music .

Opening ceremony

The contestants where students of comprehensive lower and upper secondary schools or music schools. 21 participant from 6 countries took part in the event: they represented Czech Republic, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Slovenia. Participants where divided into two age groups: Group I – aged 12-14, Group II – aged 15-18.

The Olympiad consisted of three parts. Part I 1. Music listening and theoretical questions related to the piece. 2. Singing/playing (on their own instrument) a simple melody; clapping a rhythm exercise.

Part II – Performing a song.

Part III – Original composition.

The results of the Olympiad were assessed by an international jury.
