Presentation transcript:

The' Indoor’ Multifocal Lens Prelude / Overview To: HVC Sales and CSR’s HVC labs sell a number of brands and lens styles that address the computer and mid-distance market, including the Hoyalux TACT. The primary goal is not to swap the business we have in one brand or ‘twist’ a customer buying a non-Hoya brand to TACT. Some brand switching of that will happen once the attributes of the TACT are better known. The objective is to convince accounts that are non-users or prescribers of “mid-distance lenses” of the benefits these lenses offer their patients… which, will effectively improve the entire market for this type of product and increase our opportunity to sell more of this type of lens…not simply grow TACT sales. The purpose of this is to train the HVC representatives with the resources The' Indoor’ Multifocal Lens

The' Indoor’ Multifocal Lens Eyewear, Computers and Other ‘Arms Length’ Opportunities The objective of this presentation is to answer the following questions. What is TACT and why do I need to know about it? Who is TACT for? Why would I want to use TACT vs. other brands or options? What are the products features and the wearers benefits of TACT? How do I prescribe TACT? How do I dispense TACT? How do I order TACT from the lab? How do I verify TACT lens power and positioning? The' Indoor’ Multifocal Lens TACT

The' Indoor’ Multifocal Lens Hoyalux Tact is a progressive, ergonomic lens that increases the wearers productivity and performance delivering the ultimate in vision and working comfort. 75% of the Computer Users have a Computer-Related Vision Problem Eye Fatigue Difficulty Focusing Double Vision Eye Irritation Burning Eyes Itching Eyes Headaches (Relate the symptoms associated with the eyes and the computer.) Current studies indicate that 75% - 90% of the computer users experience computer-related eyestrain. The most frequently reported visual problems are Eye Fatigue, Eye Irritation, Difficulty Focusing, Headaches, Double Vision, Burning Eyes and Itching Eyes. These symptoms can occur whenever the visual demands exceed the visual abilities of the individual. The level of discomfort appears to increase with the amount of computer use. However, based on current evidence it is unlikely that the use of computers causes permanent changes or damage to the eyes or visual system. Vision problems experienced by computer operators are generally only temporary and will decline after stopping computer work. If nothing is done to address the cause of the problem, they will continue to recur and perhaps worsen with future use.

Uncorrected Vision Problems Lead to Poor Efficiency 4% - 19% DECREASE IN VISUAL TASK PERFORMANCE* 17.4% INCREASE IN READING PERFORMANCE* $30,000 EARNINGS $300.00 EXAM AND GLASSES 1% IMPROVEMENT IN EFFICIENCY The deficits and improvements in productivity and efficiency associated with poor visual performance (efficiency) In laboratory studies, uncorrected vision problems in the workplace showed a 4% - 19% decrease in visual task performance. In these test the task were performed for durations considerably shorter than a full workday, however expectations are that 8 hours productivity would be greatly reduced because of the symptoms and fatigue which accompany vision problems. If an employees compensation is $30,000, a 1% improvement in efficiency is worth $300. An eye exam and a pair of computer specific lenses can be provided for less, and likely result in more than a 1% increase in productivity. * James Sheedy, O.D., Ph. D.

The' Indoor’ Multifocal Lens TACT…Not just for Computers users! The' Indoor’ Multifocal Lens TACT Acquaint HVC customers and prospects with varieties of visual environments where some patients experience vision encumbrances and teach them how to use a task specific lens to provide more comfort to their patients. Not just for Computers users! Good for Musicians and others that work at arms length and less, arms length and more or both. Physicians, Optometrists, Dentist, that need visual mobility without removing their glasses. Attorneys and those that conduct business a the conference table to 8-10 feet. Contractors and draftsmen that need to see a near, wide range. Cosmetologists that need to see up-close and reflections in a mirror feet away.

The' Indoor’ Multifocal Lens Clinicians and Opticians that concentrate on providing usage based eyewear solutions can easily recommend Hoyalux TACT to provide the appropriate tailor-made results to meet a variety of patient visual demands. Patients make choices (regarding the things they feel they need or like)…dispensers make choices (about what recommendations they will make). Assuming, patients with a refractive error will want a pair of all-around glasses…think about the order in which you will address the remainder of their vision needs. Consider asking this question…”If you were allowed only one more pair of glasses, would they be sunglasses, reading glasses, safety goggles, computer glasses…or some other kind.” The glasses required for work at the computer or for visual comfort in many occupational settings are different in prescription power or design from those which would be required to meet the other general daily vision needs of the individual. The' Indoor’ Multifocal Lens TACT

The Hoyalux Tact ‘Indoor’ multifocal lens has many applications.  NEAR INTERMEDIATE DISTANCE The Hoyalux Tact ‘Indoor’ multifocal lens has many applications. Hoyalux TACT’s enhanced indoor focus range features exceptionally wide intermediate and near zones and, since TACT is a true progressive design, there is a position where the distance Rx is present as well. 13.5mm 10mm Distance Rx Near Rx As illustrated on the layout guide, the distance and near zones of the TACT lens are separated by 23.5 mm.

Limited (Clear) distance Wide comfortable intermediate EP40 Standard Viewing (EP40) Features Limited (Clear) distance Wide comfortable intermediate Wide (Clear) near The Hoyalux TACT has three fitting options (Eyepoints) which optimize the positioning of the lens to best meet the wearers viewing requirements.

Standard (EP40) This is the most common. The effective power at EP40 is 40% of the total addition power. Standard (EP40) This is the most common. Fitting the lenses with Eyepoint 40 (EP40) at the patients pupil will provide the wearer with a balanced intermediate and near viewing zone and some distance view area. The size of the near or distant viewing area is dependant upon the frame depth (B measurement), decentration and lens shape.

Restricted (Blurred) distance power Emphasis On Near Viewing (EP60) Features Restricted (Blurred) distance power Widest intermediate Widest near

Emphasis on near and intermediate. EP60 For EP60 the effective power at the fitting point is 60% of the add power. Emphasis on near and intermediate. Fitting the lenses with Eyepoint 60 (EP60) at the patients pupil will provide the wearer with more concentrated near viewing and a substantial intermediate zone. Depending on the frame size, decentration and lens shape, a limited portion of distance power may also be present. (Refer to TACT layout guide)

Extended Viewing (Indoor) Features Functional (Clear) distance Wide intermediate Limited (Blurred) near EF

Extended Focus Fitting the lens at the (EF points) will provided comfortable viewing for patients that require a larger distance viewing area, a substantial intermediate and a limited near zone. EF TACT’s ‘Extended Focus’ reference points (4mm above EP40) at the patients pupils.

Fitting Reference Points Standard (EP40) Limited (Clear) distance, Wide intermediate, Wide (Clear) near Near (EP60) Restricted (Blurred) distance, Widest intermediate, Widest near Extended (EF) Functional (Clear) distance, Wide intermediate, Limited (Blurred) near Discuss with the wearer their individual indoor viewing requirements, then select the TACT application (fitting reference point) best suited to the wearers needs.

Simple to Prescribe – Simple to Order Prescribe the TACT as a normal progressive lens within the range of -8.00 to +6.00, add powers +1.00 to +3.00 (+0.25 steps). Order the Rx power from the laboratory just as you would for a standard progressive. (Other brands of ‘computer’ lenses require that you remember that the near to intermediate differential is, order the power as something other than the standard Rx) TACT is only available in 1.50 (CR-39) lens material. TACT is available with Hoya’s Super HiVision AR.

The' Indoor’ Multifocal Lens Select the frame to be used for the TACT lenses, position and adjust the frame. Observe the correct inclination (pantoscopic) angle of the frame. Normally, this should be between 7-12 degrees in relation to the vertical position of the frame. Note the vertex distance of approximately 10 to 12 mm (usual measuring distance between the back surface of the lens and the front of the cornea). Note the curvature of the frame. The ideal situation is a face form as shown in the pictures. The' Indoor’ Multifocal Lens TACT

The' Indoor’ Multifocal Lens TACT Taking Measurements Measure the pupil distance for distance separately for the left and right eye (monocular PD). Measure the height of the fitting cross for far vision in relation to the centre of the pupil when looking in the horizontal direction. This should be done separately for the right and left eye. Order the Rx power from the laboratory just as you would for a standard progressive. Provide the laboratory the fitting height (in mm) and fitting reference for this Rx (EP40, EP60 or EF). TACT is only available in 1.50 (CR-39) lens material. TACT is available with Hoya’s Super HiVision AR.

Review What is TACT and why do I need to know about it? Who is TACT for? Why would I want to use TACT vs. other brands or options? What are the products features and the wearers benefits of TACT? How do I prescribe TACT? How do I dispense TACT? How do I order TACT from the lab? How do I verify TACT lens power and positioning? What is TACT and why do I need to know about it?
