Focus of cycle 2 is on Barriers and diffuse pollution Also looking at improving our evidence where confidence in downgrades or pressure sources is not as high e.g. water bodies that are failing for an unknown reason. To be completed by 2021; 8 barriers 8 unknown sources 1 hydro 2 discharges.

Progress to date SSE Giosla hydro scheme – 2 measures this cycle and then 3 measures 3rd cycle. Negotiations are underway and on track. LA has removed culvert grates to improve 3 WBs Glen Tolsta water supply – revised to GEP Historic barrier removed by OHFT with WEF £ Other hydro reviews are on track. 4 WBs with water quality issues have had their pressure changed due to a change in infomation.

What still needs done? 12 WBs are thought o be impacted by changes to their physical condition and form, mostly Harris but 1 on North Uist. Diffuse pollution issues around the south end of Harris, classified as moderate. Shellfish Water Protected Areas - SEPA are working with Food Standard Scotland, FSS and other partners to improve understanding of the pressure during cycle 2.
