Introduction Europe Region WAGGGS Diversity Task Force

1st Stratford Brownies: Growing Guiding & Youth United Demographics of the area Reflect & Represent Recruitment & Retention

Outreach Targeting recruitment and promotion Engaging with local community organisations Running free open events Reaching out volunteer-wise

Finance Low costs: Additional Support: Weekly meetings Payment Plans Events Uniform Trips Fundraising/Subsidies

Continuing Guiding Supporting Ongoing Engagement Current Situation Challenges Future Plans

Youth Organisations: Local Level Impact Excluded youth less likely to respond to national/larger scale initiatives Direct in the community: Increased trust, visibility and access Informal learning

Summary Know your demographic: are you reflecting and representing? Assess your offer: What are you offering? Is it accessible? Start reaching out early on if possible. Offer progression opportunities. Reach out for a diverse volunteer/staff team as well Engage with organisations already engaging with excluded youth. Encourage and support reaching out at all levels of your organisation. Realise the importance and potential of reaching out locally.
