Summary of discussion CPA members asked over 30 questions of the two Board members in attendance, Peter Wilson and Helen Lorigan. The main topics discussed in the session were: How the Board is appointed, including alternative direct election models and the Appointments Council model. The discussion focused on the voice of members in these models, as well as the processes and composition of the Appointments Council. How to cater for member diversity, including opportunities to segment members based on different needs. This included comments on the potential for developing functional specialisations for CPA members. Requests for information on member numbers to be published (full members and ASAs) and how member information can be made available to other members to support member-to-member engagement How CPA Australia will deliver value back to members. This included discussing what member centricity means and using CPA Australia’s capital reserves for members’ best interests. Improving communications to members and the CPA Australia website. This highlighted the need for improved member data and new technology to support targeted digital communications. The discussion also covered: How CPA Australia can provide opportunities for members to network with each other and engage with CPA Australia Opinions on the recent announcement of free CPD – including the need for low cost face-to-face CPD options CPA Advice – and the recent work by the Board to get back the professional services scheme insurance Rationale for CPA Australia’s presence outside of Australia Minimum number of members to call an EGM –advantages and disadvantages of reducing the minimum were discussed
