Overview The 2009-2014 (Board Policy 6161 - 5-year adoption cycle) Textbook Adoptions were presented to the following Textbook Adoption Committees 3/30/09 – 4/3/09: African American Literature Communication Arts K-8 Communication Arts 9 (Freshman Literature Intervention) Mathematics K-5 Mathematics 9 (Intervention) Spanish Please note: The bullet points should be brief and include highlights.  There has been a tendency in the past for too much text that is then read word-for-word during the presentation. Background Textbook Adoption Committees have been reviewing Textbook Adoptions annually. Vendors from each content area presented their textbooks to the Textbook Adoption Committees (parents, teachers, union members, and university members). Textbooks were reviewed, discussed, and voted upon at the conclusion of the presentations. Proposal (Recommended Solution) African American Literature Class This 12th grade course will engage students in the critical reading of African American Literature in various genre and through the integration of writing, listening and speaking, students will trace and analyze the culture and history of African Americans. DESE identifies this course as an advanced course on our APR.
