DNA Structure and Replication DNA is the structure that contains our genetic information. DNA makes up the chromosomes in our nucleus. DNA occurs in a twisted-ladder-shape called a double helix. The rungs of the ladder are made up of repeating phosphate, sugar, phosphate, sugar…. where the sugar is deoxyribose. The nitrogen bases A,G, C and T make up the rungs of the ladder, connected by weak hydrogen bonds. A pairs with T and G with C. A=adenine T=Thymine G=Guanine and C=cytosine
DNA Structure
Replication Replication is the duplicating of DNA to make 2 identical DNA strands. The DNA unzips at the hydrogen bonds and the end result is 2 identical DNA strands. This happens during interphase in mitosis. or during the first interphase in meiosis.
