Evaluation Article Front Cover

What I created is a front cover to go with my double page article What I created is a front cover to go with my double page article. The class started of with planning such as analysis front cover and double page spread articles. This helped as we got a understanding and the conventions of an article and what is included. I already had a idea of what I wanted my article to be based on. I knew as my research was on the popular teenage magazine ‘Seventeen’. Seventeen is aimed for teenagers, I thought it was a smart idea to base mine on teenagers too. I have access to teenagers for the photography so I stuck with the idea. I first thought to do advice and fashion, but then changed my mind to do Teenage. Lifestyle. An to focus on tips instead of fashion. As it would have bee time consuming. My target audience is teenagers from thee age of thirteen to nineteen. It linked as I am giving useful tips in the article about lifestyle living. I used majority article conventions as I included a suitable masthead which is ‘Teenage.LifeSTYLE’. To make it eye catching I used different fonts such as . This made it look more like a typical teenage front cover as I used bright colours. I made sure to include a teenager as I would appeal to the target audience. I made sure that my model wore casual clothing as it is for any typical teenager who needs advice of what to do in their teenage years. I mde sure to book the photography studio as it teds to get busy throughout the week. I made sure to take various pictures so I hd a selection to choose from. I chose a medium shot so the audience could see the whole outfit of the model and facial expressions. I made sure she wore dark colours so the text would pop. My images linked to my double page article, as I give tips such as sport, friends & health. I Included a image of oranges and avocado which was taken from home. Underneath the image I used a pull quote so the reader is influenced to read the article. ‘The key to having the best teenage lifestyle is to of course stay healthy.’’ The other image I used in my front cover is myself. I emailed a picture to myself. My article is from a teenagers perspective so I made sure to use a caption ‘Tips from a teenage girl herself’. This made the article more personal, and that the reader knows they will et information that I not bias or wrong, also real opinions. I didn’t want to use anymore images a I didn’t want my front cover to be overwhelming.

Title/text/Typography/font: BROADWAY MINION PRO BAUHAUS BUXTON: These are all the text fonts I used in my front and double page article. I used these as it went well with the colours and images. Colours: Pink, Blue, White, Yellow Red, Green. All these colours are eyecatching and suit th targt udience. Teenagers are most likely to pick up a bright magazine/aricle rather than a dull boring one. One thing Imight change in the future is to keep a 3 colour scheme. However I feel that the colours I chose went well with the magazine and images. I would not change the text types as it made my article look qwerky and different. The cover line is in a circle which I created in Indesign. I then made a text box inside quoting ‘SPECIAL ISSUE’ which typical magazines use. It is special as teenagers are the future. The text is white with a red outline illustrating it’s importance. The circle is yellow so it is the first thing you see. You then read below which is ‘12 top tips on teenage life-style’. They are all in text listed above with colours listed. It is positioned on the left hand side on the font cover. It grabs the readers attention it makes the audiences eye read downwards towards to the topic healthy eating. The caption for the healthy image is in green as most healthy foods are green it also goes with the colour scheme.

FINAL FRONT COVER The final finishing touches were the tips from my article. The text is black and white so it stood out. It also went well with the barcode and the text. A barcode is one of the articles conventions my audience can get information from also the website underneath. Over all the final front cover looked complete, I made sure most space was not visible. My front cover was successful as it linked to my actual article. I understood all conventions and what is supposed to be included in a front cover. My target audience was successful as it was linked in the front cover and article. I talk about what teenagers would go through and how to live good in teenage years.
