Unit 9 Lessons 29 – 30

Lesson 29 Objective To learn to format e-mail messages.

E-mail Heading The heading generally includes to whom the e-mail is being sent (To), what the e-mail is about (Subject), and to whom copies of the e-mail are being sent (Cc).

E-mail Heading The name of the person sending the e-mail and the date the e-mail is sent are automatically included by the software.

E-mail Heading If you don’t want the person receiving the e-mail to know that you are sending a copy of the e-mail to another person, the Bcc feature can be used.

E-mail Body The paragraphs of an e-mail message all begin at the left margin and are SS with a DS between paragraphs. Body

Attachments Attachments can be included with your e-mail by using the Attachment feature of the software. Attachment button Common types of attachments include word processing, database, and spreadsheet files.

Inbox Search & Sort Two features that are used to manage e-mail messages are Search and Sort.

Inbox Search & Sort The Search feature finds specific messages based on a word, phrase, or other text.

Inbox Search & Sort The results of a search are normally shown by date; However, the Sort feature can be used to organize e-mail messages in a variety of ways.

Inbox Search & Sort The more common sorts arrange e-mail messages by date, by subject, or by name of the person sending the message.

Inbox Search & Sort The sort shown below organizes messages by sender (from), thus placing all the messages from Parker together and all messages from Carter together.

Lesson 30 Objective To learn to use the Calendaring, Contacts, Tasks, and Notes features.

Calendar The Calendar feature is used to record and display appointments electronically. The calendar can be displayed and printed daily, weekly, or monthly.

Contacts The Contacts feature is used to store information about your associates.

Contacts Generally, the person’s name, business address, phone number, and e-mail address are recorded. Hard copies can be printed in a variety of formats (card style, booklet style, phone directory style, etc.).

Tasks The Tasks feature allows you to record tasks that you are responsible for completing.

Notes The Notes feature allows you to write yourself a reminder.
