EPCRA: Emergency Planning and Community Right to Know Act Andrea Yoon P. 6

About the EPCRA Emergency Planning and Community Right-to-Know Act Congress passed November 1986 National legislation Amended minimally to make reporting easier

What is it? The ERCPA was a response to concerns regarding the environmental and safety hazards posed by the storage and handling of toxic chemicals Concerns triggered by disaster in Bhopal, India Created to help communities plan for chemical emergencies. It also requires industry to report on the storage, use and releases of hazardous substances to federal, state, and local governments. Created to increase the public's knowledge and access to information on chemicals at individual facilities, their uses, and releases into the environment Enforced by the federal government and the EPA
