Hexiwear Watch Alert System Dean Sponsor: Gregory Camuzat and Kenny Huang NXP Semiconductor Faculty Advisor: Dr. Semih Aslan

Project Overview The Hexiwear Watch Alert System will detect heart rate and fall detection and send an alert to the user if such an event has occurred that puts the users life at risk. After an alert has been sent the user will then be able to respond to it stating whether they need further assistance or not. There is also a feature that allows the user to manually send an alert in the event that something occurred that the watch didn’t catch. Dean # 2.11: Hexiwear Watch Alert System

Project Motivation The problem: Every 11 seconds, an older adult is treated in the emergency room due to a fall related injury. Every 19 minutes an older adult dies due to fall related injuries. This device gives the elderly the care they need if home alone and something bad occurs through the alert system. Why are you doing this project? What’s important / needed / beneficial about it? Why is this a good senior design project? MAKE FONT BIG # 2.11: Hexiwear Watch Alert System

User Interface # 2.11: Hexiwear Watch Alert System BRIEFLY summarize the results of your work – and what your design will do. USE GRAPHICS and PICTURES! Be visual!! Add slides if need be!! # 2.11: Hexiwear Watch Alert System

Results The system will be able to detect a fall by measuring movement and can also measure heart rate and determine when an unhealthy heart rate occurs. When either of the two events occur, the system will be triggered and will send an alert to the users caretaker and will notify the user that an alert has been sent. If an event occurs and an event has not been sent, there is a manual alert button that will allow the user to send an alert themselves. Put in a photo of your completed project. # 2.11: Hexiwear Watch Alert System

Results Cont. When the system is triggered, the user will be notified that an alert is about to be sent. If there is nothing wrong and the alert is a false alarm, the user can cancel the alert. However, if the user fails to respond to the alert or not cancel it after 30 seconds, the system will automatically send an alert. # 2.11: Hexiwear Watch Alert System

Fall Detection # X.Y: <Project Title>

Future Work Make a more durable casing for the system. Create a mobile app strictly for the system implementing only the utilized sensors. Add functions that allow the device to act as a watch. BRIEFLY give 2-4 bullets of future work. BRIEF # 2.11: Hexiwear Watch Alert System
