M&M’s Lab

Which M & M color is the most dominant (the most of) in a bag?? 1. Question

6 colors: brown, blue, green, red, yellow & orange 2. Make observations

If there are 6 colors in a bag of M&M’s, then ________ will be the most dominant because _______. 3. Hypothesis

4A. Test Hypothesis: Materials Bag of M&M’s Paper towel Triple Beam Balance

4A. Test Hypothesis: Procedures Count the total number of candies in your bag. Separate out the colors and fill out data chart. Trial 1 is your group. Get information from 2 other groups for Trial 2 & 3. Calculate the average by dividing the total number of M&M’s of all three trials by 3. Make a BAR graph of the results using different colors for each trial and the average. Don’t forget TLUDS!

5. Analyze results Complete data chart 2. Complete graph REMEMBER >>>> Trial 1 is YOUR group. Get the results for Trial 2 & 3 from other groups! 2. Complete graph EACH color will have 3 sets of information EACH bar should be a DIFFERENT COLOR (one bar for each trial) Don’t forget TLUDS

6. Conclusion My hypothesis _________ (color) was _________ (correct/incorrect) The most dominant color in our class was _____________. I _________ (accept or reject) my hypothesis.

7. Communicate Results Who are you going to share these results with?
