Art New Media 20 Digital Design Point of View

Point of view describes the relationship between the observer and the object. It can be very effective in drawing attention to an otherwise familiar object or scene. It may challenge the observer to make sense out of an unexpected perspective. • Are you looking up at the object? Straight ahead or down? • Are you looking at its front, back or side? • Does the object have an inside and can you see it?

Balvis Rubess This extreme “bird’s eye” view creates interest by showing us familiar images, but from a point of view we are not likely to encounter.

This “bird’s eye” view uses a forced perspective to add drama to the image. Dan Cosgrove

This image is clearly demonstrates the receding angles of one-point perspective as they move toward a single vanishing point at eye level.

This is an apparent frontal view at eye level. Notice that the planes of the throne and the torso are parallel to our personal picture plane.
