Religious Disagreement in England King Henry VIII broke away from the Catholic Church 1534 Formed the Anglican church Many people wanted to be Catholic again

Puritans and Separatists Wanted to “purify” the Anglican church and get rid of Catholic influences in it Separatists Left the Anglican church and would not worship there Attacked for their beliefs and shut out of communities

Pilgrims Moved away from England to Leyden, Netherlands They could worship their religion freely here Still feel out of place Difficult to earn a living Children influenced too much by the Dutch Move to America and start their own religious community
