YAVAPAI COUNTY ARES/RACES THE YAVAPAI COUNTY EOC MESSAGE FORM AND PASSING MESSAGE TRAFFIC

Message Handling Fundamentals BASIC OPERATIONS Message Handling Fundamentals Using the Yavapai County EOC Message Form

BASIC OPERATIONS Why not use the ARRL Radiogram message form? Why ARES/RACES members should learn to use the Yavapai County EOC message form.. Why not use the ARRL Radiogram message form? The ARRL Radiogram is not compatible with the current Incident Command system message format.. The YCOEM EOC message form follows the ICS format more closely.. The YCOEM EOC form is also the choice of the Yavapai County Office of Emergency Management.. The YCOEM is our primary served agency..

The YCOEM Form Header Message Message Taken By Reply Person Submitting Reply Time & Date Of Reply

SENDING THE REPLY THE REPLY MEALS PROVIDED BY SMITH CATERING. ETA 1700 HOURS. Ann Morris/Red Cross Disaster Services 1700 04/02/08 Reply Tracking Data (Time/Date)

The YCOEM Form The person ‘taking’ the message puts their name in the “Taken By” area. If taken by amateur radio the operator should also put his/her callsign. Name and Position of person responding to the message goes at the bottom of the “Reply/Action” area along with the time and date of the reply. When taking or sending message traffic always work from the upper left to lower right on the form that way messages can be copied/sent without a form using plain paper..

SENDING THE MESSAGE (Recap) Always PRINT when filling out the message form... Legibility is a top priority... Send SLOOOOOWLY… In a message the punctuation marks are sent as period, comma, etc. If someone from a served agency brings in a filled out message form to be sent, review the message contents while they are still close at hand for any needed clarifications… Remember… ALWAYS SEND THE MESSAGE EXACTLY AS IT IS WRITTEN…..
