The 4 Types of Sentences
DECLARATIVE A DECLARATIVE sentence makes a statement. Always ends with a PERIOD. EX: Cats have four legs. EX: I like to eat ice cream on hot days.
IMPERATIVE An IMPERATIVE sentence gives a command. These sentences can end with either a PERIOD or an EXCLAMATION MARK. EX: Tell us more about these great animals. EX: Look out for that car!
INTERROGATIVE An INTERROGATIVE sentence asks a question. Ends in a QUESTION MARK. EX: How were x-rays discovered? EX: What time does the store close?
EXCLAMATORY An EXCLAMATORY sentence expresses strong feeling. End with an EXCLAMATION MARK. EX: I can’t believe it! EX: What an amazing bit of luck!
