How to Rent Off-Campus Apartment/Flat

Renting Procedures Step 1: Consider your needs Size, Location, Budget, Furnishing, Moving Schedule, etc Step 2: Find a property agent Step 3: Site visits (arranged by the agent)

Renting Procedure Cont. Step 4: Discuss with the agent about your concerns, bargaining on price/terms, your request to the landlord, etc Step 5: Sign the provisional tenancy agreement and pay deposit Step 6: Handover the apartment, pay deposit and advance rent (total 3 months rent) and commission to the agent

Rights and Responsibilities of a Tenant

Rights 1.The use of the premises. Landlord cannot disturb without special reasons. 2. Basic utilities (water, electricity, gas etc.) 3. Can refuse to move (in the 1 st yr, no violation of the agreement). 4. Can terminate the agreement (in the 2 nd yr, 1-month advance notice).

Responsibilities 1. Pay the rent on time. 2. Should not damage the provisions, structure, and fixture inside the apartment. 3. Should not allow illegal activities to be taken place inside the apartment. 4. Cannot perform the acts which damage the benefit of the landlord.
