Mrs Blything & Mrs Noakes Year 5 (Kingfishers) – Spring 1 2017 Notes Welcome back and Happy New Year. We hope that you have had a magical Christmas and had some time to relax and take it easy after a busy start to the school year! Maths English We will start the half term by revisiting place value and then moving on to calculation. Our work will cover addition, subtraction, multiplication and addition using written and mental strategies. This half term the children will learn how to write in a number of different styles that will link directly with our topic. This will cover myths and legends, poetry and newspaper reports. Topic & Science Science : Earth & Space and Forces. Topic: Stargazers This is a science based topic in which we will investigate the planets and take a look at the Moon! Homework Diary Dates Why not try one of the new homework tasks on the back of this newsletter. All children MUST be reading everyday for at least 15 mins Weekly spellings will be sent home to practice and be tested each Friday. Key Mental Maths facts will also be sent home for children to learn Friday 12th January - Yorkshire Museum and Observatory P.E. Will be on Mondays and Thursdays, please ensure that your child has a full PE kit on these days.
