TYPES OF SHOT LONG SHOT Provides wide view of a scene, showing many objects and/or people Establishes the setting

Medium Shot Shows one or more characters from the waist up. Shows interaction between two or three people.

Close-up Shot Shows a detailed view of a person or object to create emotion

Hand-held shot Camera is held and moved by the camera operator to achieve unsteady images Used mainly in drama to convey a feeling of realism

Editing How the shots in a show are selected and arranged to help viewers understand the story, show passage of time, and to create a mood.

Laugh Track Used in sitcoms Believed that viewers enjoy comedies more when others are laughing along Sometimes filmed in front of a live audience and will use both real and laugh track.

Music Helps to create the identity of the show (theme song) Also used to tell the viewer how they should feel about the story

Sound Effects A sound for different elements is edited into the show to seem more exciting and real. Beeping machines, rocket engines, etc.
