Participant Objectives PPT-1 Participant Objectives As a result of participating in this module, participants will: Understand the four phases of the Student Learning Partnership process Be able to decide when to implement the Student Learning Partnership process with a student Be able to engage a student in a series of effective conversations around his/her learning using the Student Learning Partnership process Recognize the benefits and value of engaging a student in a learning partnership

Exploring the SLP Form groups of four. PPT-4 Exploring the SLP 15 minutes: Form groups of four. As a group, assign an SLP phase to each member of the group. Read SLP Overview on pages 3-6. “Investigate” your assigned phase. Worksheet for notes is provided on page 19. 15 minutes total (3-4 minutes/group member): Share what you’ve learned about your assigned phase with the other group members.

Putting the SLP into Practice PPT-7 Putting the SLP into Practice 20 minutes: Begin planning a Student Learning Partnership with either an authentic student or a case study student. 3rd grade and 9th grade case studies available (pages 22-23). Work individually or with a partner. Focus on phases 1, 2, and 3 of the SLP process. Forms corresponding to each phase are provided on pages 24-26. Keep in mind: Understanding the process is more important than completing the forms.
