Chinese University of Hong Kong TEACHING AT CUHK HAS ALLOWED ME TO…WORK WITH GREAT PEOPLE (GORDON, LYNDA, AND U.S. FACULTY LIKE MIKE PENG, MARK BOLINO), TEACH FANTASTIC STUDENTS, RECRUIT DOCTORAL STUDENTS, ETC. (20-30 SECONDS ON THE PROFESSIONAL ASPECTS)

Chinese University of Hong Kong IT HAS ALSO GIVEN OUR FAMILY AN OPPORUNITY TO TRAVEL AND LIVE ABROAD. TRAVEL HELPS TO REJUVINATE ME. OVER THE COURSE OF 13 YEARS, OUR DAUGHTERS HAVE SPENT APPROXIMATELY 15 MONTHS LIVING IN HONG KONG...WE WERE “TEMPORARY LOCALS” (USE PHRASING FROM RENEE’S ESSAY). THIS EXPERIENCE HAS HELPED FOSTER A LOVE OF EXPLORATION SHARED BY OUR WHOLE FAMILY (TRUST ME, DESPITE THE LOOK ON MY YOUNGEST DAUGHTER’S FACE, SHE REALLY DOES LOVE TRAVELING). I leave you today with this quote from Chinese philosopher Lao (LAW) Tzu:  “the journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step.” While you have already taken that first step and may have experienced road blocks, construction zones, and maybe even a few crashes, remember to enjoy the scenery and the people you meet along the way.
