Penalty Enforcement Mechanics So you have a foul: Throw your flag Dead ball or at the Snap Spot Get a number Continue officiating Kill the clock Blow your whistle

Penalty Enforcement Mechanics (Cont.) Hold the end of the run Wait for help – Give help Ball on ground with official over the ball until option is accepted Cover flags (7 man) Get a ball for the umpire

Penalty Enforcement Mechanics (Cont.) Before you report the foul Adjust the spot of your flag Two flags in the same area Don’t assume Difference fouls, both report Reporting Start with the results of the play Give it as it will be announced Be prepared to give the enforcement Make sure the foul is enforced properly

Referee Preliminary signal if necessary Get option decision from the coach Always verbalize like you are mic’d The Foul The team The distance Umpire Communicate with H & L Make sure the H & L are in position before you begin Count stripes, do not pace Don’t put the ball down unless you the H & L agree

Head Linesman As soon as play is over make sure the chains and box don’t move Make sure the box remains on the previous down Make sure the box does not move until the umpire has put the ball down and you till them to move Move with umpire Know the new yard line, down and distance before you walk.
