CIM 223 - QuickBooks 2000 Beginning QuickBooks for business accounting solutions For this course, your must be familiar with windows 2000 and/or XP Must know windows explorer Copying files, making folders etc QuickBooks 2003 and QuickBooks 2002 have few differences in user interfaces and features Will use QuickBooks 2003 Pro in the class

Text Book Introduction to QuickBooks and QuickBooks Pro Seminar for 2003 By Douglas Sleeter ISBN# 0-9659536-8-8 Data files for the book can be downloaded from www.dougsleeter.com/support You will need QuickBooks Pro 2003 version to use these files
Assignment Files All the assignments are posted on the web site and are NOT from the book The files needed for the assignments are included on the web site If you have QuickBooks 2003 files are in .qbw format and can be used directly If you have QuickBooks 2000-2002 files are in backup format (.qbb), and must be restored to data file format (.qbw) before use
Practice Files These files should be downloaded from the web site www.sleeter.com/support Select the seminar book for 2003 and download the zipped file Unzip the zipped file to create practice files in .qbb format These files will only work with QuickBooks 2003
Class Rules Come to the class few minutes early Pickup handout Sign in for attendance Each student is assigned a grade id for tracking progress, remember it Ask chapter related questions during lecture All other questions, ask during break time or during Q&A session after the class
Class Routine 7pm – Review of previous lecture 7:15 pm quiz on the screen 10 min to take/grade quiz 7:30pm - lecture/ demo of chapter 8:15pm - 15 min break 8:30pm - lecture/assignment demo 9:30pm – Q&A session
Class Assignments Turn in assignments on due date Use one cover sheet per assignment Can correct mistakes and resubmit once with original work, label RESUBMIT Can work at home or at IMC Lab To learn, do your own work no substitute than practice, practice, practice
