Equilibrium and Feedback
Equilibrium / Equilibria Equilibrium means balance. A system that does not tend to undergo any change of its own accord but remains in a single, fixed state is said to be in equilibrium.
Types of equilibrium Static Equilibrium Steady-State equilibrium
Steady-State Equilibrium an average condition where the overall situations remains fairly constant. Over time, inputs into the system equals output, so there is no net change.
Feedback In order for a system to maintain a steady state, it must be able to self regulate. Self regulation is usually controlled by negative feedback and positive feedback mechanism. A system will not usually exist in steady state.
Types of feedback Positive feedback : Negative feedback: seeks to increase the output that caused it Negative feedback: seeks to cancel the output that caused it
