Did you know? As we know, Universiade took place in Almaty, Kazakhstan. Have you noticed that it’s 28th year of Universiade Games? I've been wondering, what is the main purpose or goal in these games? Why were they created? Can kids participate in it? Is it fun? Let’s find out.

What is it for? Universiade is mainly created for students. Basically, what they do is that they have different winter sports such as: figure skating, skiing, speed skating, hockey, etc. So, they actually try to win in all these races to show how great their country is. When there was Universiade in Almaty, all of the public and some of the private schools got to be closed, not including our school.

What is the main point? Basically the main point in Universiade games is to show how great their country is in different kinds of sports. The winter sports competitions are going 8 days, and on the last day they announce winners. All of the 80 countries of the world participate in Universiade. They all had a certain schedule for sports.

They all had a certain schedule for sports. Universiade has an opening and closing ceremony after sport games end. On opening event they have a special torch relay, where they get to carry a torch. And as always, the president comes to the opening ceremony and tells his speech. At the closing, they thank athletes for participating in Universiade, and tell the speeches in many different languages. Sometimes in the closing they invite other presidents.

Conclusion If you’re an athlete you may participate in some of these sports you're good at. I think it’s a lot fun to participate in these sports and even win in them. For those who haven’t won, don’t be sad- there are many chances for you to win next time. I hope to visit opening of Universiade one day.
