The Process Our main priority is for the pupils to feel as comfortable and relaxed as possible during the SATs assessments. - Prepare pupils well so they know exactly what is happening and what the papers look like - New for this year, time in the mornings before the test beginning so that children are settled before tests - Complete the tests in the classrooms, unless we feel a pupil would benefit from a smaller environment After tests - Sent off for marking - Results in July
How can parents help? The best help is by taking an interest in your child’s learning and progress. Giving positive encouragement. Attending meetings and parents evenings. Supporting regular and thorough home learning, including SAM Learning time and the 10-minute Tests Fun websites: MyMaths/BBC Bitesize. Not putting children under too much pressure. Ensuring children arrive for tests: - in good time - with a snack, drink, etc., (including glasses if needed) - having had breakfast - having gone to bed at a reasonable time!
