Who is the Fiscal Service? The Bureau of the Fiscal Service (The Bureau), a new bureau of the Treasury Department, was formed from the consolidation of the Financial Management Service (legacy FMS) and the Bureau of the Public Debt (legacy BPD) The Bureau of the Fiscal Service is committed to delivering strong leadership, exceptional operational services, and positive transformational change of government-wide financial management and shared services. Payment Management • Fiscal Service disburses almost 90% of the federal government’s payments. • Our recipients are a global community, living domestically and abroad, in rural and urban areas. On behalf of over 200 Federal agencies, Treasury made 1.18 billion payments valued at over $3.3 trillion in Fiscal Year 2017.
