The California Early Care & Education Workforce Registry Hi everyone, and thank you for coming today. Today I will be presenting on the ECE workforce registry. Today’s presentation will have three parts: first I will give a general overview of what the Registry is and the benefits of being a member. Second, I’ll log onto a test profile so I can show you what your profile will look like and how to use the functions it offers. Third, you’ll have the opportunity to enroll here. During this part of the workshop I’ll float around and answer any questions you have. California Child Care Resource & Referral Network

What is the California Early Care & Education Workforce Registry? Statewide, online database designed for ECE professionals Track & promote professional development Secure & confidential Free CA ECE Workforce Registry The California Early Care & Education Workforce Registry is an statewide, online database system designed for early care & education professionals to track and promote their professional development. Once you create your profile, the Registry offers a range of tools you can use to not only see where you are in your professional journey as an ECE provider, but also keep learning and growing in your profession. It is an online system that is secure and confidential. Your personal information is kept private and all data on the Registry is data encrypted. Further, the Registry offers its benefits to you free of charge. California Child Care Resource & Referral Network

Why should I join the Registry? Accessible professional development Instant access to a range of career tools Contribute to large-scale change Information is used to inform policy Advances our knowledge of gaps in training to better support providers Data allows us to better advocate for legislation that benefits ECE CA ECE Workforce Registry Something that might be on the front of your minds is, “Why should I join the Registry in the first place?” which is completely understandable. First, the Registry provides accessible professional development. With just a few clicks, you’ll have access to a range of tools that help support your career and future goals. Further, the information that we gather in the Registry helps us better understand the needs of our providers. You have a highly skilled job that requires a lot of knowledge and practice. Therefore, by looking at overall education and professional growth trends, we can better identify the places where we are not supporting you and remedy them. Additionally this data allows us to approach our governing bodies and better advocate for policies that advance ECE. With good ol’ hard data, we can demonstrate to our legislators that we need funding in the field to benefit our providers and young children. California Child Care Resource & Referral Network

What tools does the Registry offer? The Registry offers a range of tools to promote professional development: Resume Builder Job Board Training Calendar Education & Training Report CA ECE Workforce Registry As I mentioned before, the Registry offers participants these tools on their profiles to keep growing in ECE. First, we have a Resume Builder. As you will soon see, the Resume Builder is a tool you can use to create a pre-formatted resume. Offering a straightforward interface, this tool allows you to focus on inputting job responsibilities while taking care of the formatting for you. After using the Resume Builder, you will have a formatted Microsoft Word document with your resume in it, meaning you can continue to edit it for any job applications. On the topic of jobs, we also have a Job Board. This job board is an online job forum with just ECE jobs. On the Job Board, you will find information concerning the position duties, qualifications, and who to get in contact with to learn more about the position and application process. The Registry also offers a Training Calendar. This is a tool you can use to search and enroll in professional development workshops and trainings in your area. Instead of having to call individual agencies to find out when trainings will be held, you can now search several agencies all at once. Further, when you enroll in trainings on the Registry, your progress is automatically tracked on your Education and Training Report. This report greatly simplifies the process of documenting the professional growth hours you need to renew your permit. When you are ready to renew your permit, all you need to do is print out the report, have it signed by a professional growth advisor, and you will be good to go. I’m a Director: how does the Registry benefit me? Verify employment Store and access staff professional documentation Education & Training Report Generate reports Post on Job Board Enroll staff in trainings CA ECE Workforce Registry Many of you in the audience are FCC owners, site directors, or administrators at child care facilities. In your position, you’re not only an educator, but you’re also a business person. You have to stay on top of many different things and the Registry can help you do just that. First, you can verify and track their professional documentation on your Registry profile. Not only does this allow you to add a level of legitimacy to your staff’s profiles, but this also grants you access to their Education & Training Report along with any and all professional development documents they have submitted to the Registry for upload. This means when you need this information for licensing or other purposes, all the necessary documentation is readily accessible on your Registry profile. Additionally, you can generate reports to help you track your staff qualifications. If you ever find yourself in need of another staff member, you can post job openings on the Job Board, making it easy for your announcement to be seen by your target audience. Additionally, you can also enroll your staff members in trainings on the Training Calendar, meaning you can expedite the training to center-wide implementation process. In the end, these tools help you better manage your business with an easy-to-use interface. California Child Care Resource & Referral Network
