SIA SIA: Overall Purpose SIA Strategic Planning Session SIA: Overall Purpose Registration Regulation Practice Standards Code of Ethics SIA is responsible for protecting the public interest. SIA Code of Ethics (Defines Professionalism) Practice Standards (Defines Competence)

Registration and regulation SIA Strategic Planning Session Registration and regulation Standards (Set by Gov.) Employers Members Registration/Regulation Registration The benefits of registration need to be explained to members and employers. Regulation SIA must be able to hold people accountable for ethical and competent practice, to protect the public interest

Today’s Purpose There are key issues we need to discuss as SIA works towards full compliance over the next three years. Council needs ideas from all members on how to achieve this goal. Compliance will only be possible if all members are actively involved.

Question #1 How should professionals distinguish themselves from those who are not professionals yet work in the same area?

Question Set #2 What are the best ways and means to increase the education and awareness of the profession of agrology and agrologists in the agriculture and environmental sectors, as well as the general public?

Question #3 What would your conversation points be with people who are qualified, practicing and not yet registered (to encourage them to register)?
