Aims of this workshop To improve your understanding of what makes a good presentation To look at some common pitfalls and how to avoid them To prepare your own speech for later! To practice speaking! 

Your midterm presentation 2-4 minutes Make an app Topic: Teach us something!  (“How to…”) Make something with paper (origami) Make a certain dish (food) Ideas: Make a website Play a few chords on an instrument (guitar, piano, etc.) Write a computer program Buy a movie ticket on your phone Juggle Do a hairstyle Skateboard Sketch a portrait Tell good jokes Speak another language (simple phrases) Do a dance move Meet new people Plan a vacation Ask a girl (or guy!) out on a date Write a song Prepare for an interview Write a poem Prepare for a test Write a book

Website Tutorial… Not required, BUT… I do take test questions from the online activities. 

Speaking Games!!  20 questions… Choose an object. Answer your team’s questions using ONLY: “Yes” “No” “Sometimes” or “Maybe” Example…

20 Questions example… Is it alive? (Yes!) Does it have fur? (No!) Can it swim? (Yes!) Is it bigger than my hand? (Yes!) Is it grey (gray)? (Yes!) Is it a dolphin? (Yes!)

20 Questions … Teams of 3-5 people Each person chooses an item… Have your teammates ask questions (nor more than 20)! Whoever guesses it (before 20 questions) wins the card! If they do NOT guess it after 20 questions, you keep the card! 

Let’s play! Choose a word (every player) Make sure you know what it is! Look up the word if you have to. Be ready to ask questions…
